This outdoor board was part of an outdoor, co-op campaign created for Honda ATC dealers. At that time, Honda was making the best and biggest all-terrain vehicles available.
The “Race Win” ads were probably the least liked ad assignments by the art directors and copywriters at that time. We were cranking out 1 to 2 a week and it seemed like the best ideas had already been done.
This series of full color, single page print ads were a lot of fun to create. We had great production budgets. We were able to travel to great locations to shoot the ATV’s. And we were able to create interesting studio shots for the Kawasaki MULE.
Every weekend there were a number of motorcycle races around the country and every Monday we were given the results and asked to produce a print ad proclaiming victories.
Voted “Motorcycle Campaign of the Decade” by Motorcyclist Magazine back in the late 90′s, my copy partner Cameron Day and I took on the final year of this campaign just as the marketing director at Kawasaki, Mike Vaughn and the executive creative director at Bozell Los Angeles, Scott Young both left.
