The following billboards were developed by myself and my partners at various advertising agencies over the past 25 years.
The thing I love about outdoor is that you basically have about 30 seconds to communicate your idea in 7 to 10 words (or less). So you can’t add all the additional pieces of information that find their way into print ads, TV commercials and radio spots. Today, you probably have an image, a headline, a logo, a tagline, a URL, and possibly a telephone number and directional information. At 60 miles an hour while people are playing with their iPhones, the stereo, and map quest, pretty much all of the additional things that client’s and AE’s want on the billboard is pretty much a complete waste.
This outdoor board was developed for American Honda Motorcycle Company when we introduced “Big Red”, Honda’s largest and most powerful ATV to date.
This series was created by Cary Sacks and I while and Sacks/Fuller in Los Angeles for Thieves Market, a Western-style boot company located throughout Southern California.
These were the last outdoor boards we created at Sacks/Fuller for City National Bank before they CNB killed their outdoor advertising efforts. After all, why pay for advertising that only chauffeurs will see?
This series was also created at Sacks/Fuller for the introduction of ReadyPac Salads to the general consumer market, using the SanFrancisco Bay Area for the test launch.
Created at Dailey & Associates in Los Angeles for our client Moctezuma Importers and their premium beer, Dos Equis.
Created by Cameron Day and myself while we were at Bozell Worldwide in Los Angeles, working on the Kawasaki account which also included JetSkis.
Created at Pitzer Advertising & Design in Silicon Valley for our first retail boutique account, the Eclectic Touch.
Samples from the multi-year, 10 billboard series developed for JiffyLube, Southern California Dealer Group by Cary Sacks and myself while at Sacks/Fuller, Los Angeles.
Created at Pitzer Advertising & Design in Chandler, Arizona for our Quantum Developers and their 150-acre, Carver Mountain Estates development.
Developed at Pitzer Advertising & Design in Chandler, Arizona for Penske’s Ferrari dealership in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Created at Pitzer Advertising & Design in Chandler, Arizona for our Quantum Developers and their 15-acre, Montaña Vista Estates development in Phoenix, Arizona.

Sweet blog! I found it while searching on Yahoo News. Do you have any suggestions on how to get listed in Yahoo News? I’ve been trying for a while but I never seem to get there!

Interesting banter I’ve bookmarked the page on Digg.com under “Michael Pitzer » 25 years of Billboards”. Kudos!
